Ballet shoes
Ballet is a beautiful art form loved by millions, of all ages. Having worked at The Royal Ballet School, I was inspired, by the students, to develop a range of decorated and themed shoes as gifts and keepsakes; the dancers loved them. The shoes can be bespoke, made to fit the character and interests of the recipient or, a range of generalised designs. They are for decorative purposes only and can be provided with ribbons to hang. Prices range from £20 for a standard design to £50 for bespoke shoes. It is possible to decorate 'retired' shoes to make them into wonderful memories of a favourite dance or ballet. The shoes shown here were made as 'one off' designs. The 'Musical Shoe' was for a dancer who was also a talented cellist; the shoe combines both loves.
'Cinderella' was created as it was the recipient's favourite ballet. I took inspiration from the colour of Cinderella's ballet costume and crystals gave the shoe the glamour of a princess.
One of the most iconic ballets is Swan Lake. The duel role of Odette and Odile were the inspiration for the next shoe. The two sides reflect the similarities between the Black and White Swans.
